Situation
A global provider of technology solutions for private health insurers sought to enhance their risk analytics platform by integrating deeper clinical insight. Their goal was to identify high-risk insurance scenarios that could be proactively managed through data science applications. However, their internal team lacked access to diverse clinical expertise across multiple countries and specialties. They needed an agile partner to bridge the gap between clinical insight and data innovation, across geographies and complex stakeholder requirements.
Task
Medical Consulting Group was engaged to:
- Identify, vet, and coordinate clinicians across five different countries, spanning a range of medical specialties.
- Collaborate closely with the client’s data science team to shape a clinically credible framework for identifying high-risk scenarios in insurance contexts.
- Develop a series of real-world clinical scenarios with the selected clinicians, pinpointing areas where insurance risk could be significantly reduced using predictive modelling and data-driven interventions.
Solution
Leveraging our Clinical Engagement service, we provided end-to-end support, including:
- Clinician Sourcing and Vetting: We rapidly identified and onboarded clinicians with relevant domain expertise and regional knowledge, using our robust networks across healthcare systems worldwide.
- Project Management and Facilitation: We orchestrated seamless collaboration between the client’s data science team and clinicians, managing interviews, scheduling, NDAs, and communications to ensure each engagement was structured and focused.
- Insight Extraction and Scenario Co-Design: Through facilitated sessions, we co-developed clinically plausible scenarios where technology could reduce risk exposure for insurers. We synthesised these clinician inputs into actionable insights that could be directly integrated into the client’s data science models.
